The church of the Woke has become the defacto replacement for Christianity today. You do realize that the people who buy into this current moral panic, are the "Christians" of our era.
And I think the guys who are in the band know this because they like to stay anonymous. Nobody should be defending this horseshit. Using this imagery in a positive or endearing way is basically the equivalent of someone digging up your loved ones that passed away and pissing on their remains. Hell, it still has a left an ugly mark on the world because we still have neo nazis and white power neanderthals who want to make it a reality again. This is something that actually happened and affected millions of people (many who are dead now because of it).
This isn’t some fairy tale bullshit in a book. Nazi swastikas and SS bolts are symbols of racial/ethnic hatred against anyone who isn’t part of the “master race”, antisemitism, and violence towards those people. This goes beyond “ooh scaring old ladies and children with demons and Satan and 666” stuff. However, using Nazi and Nazi occultist imagery isn’t the same thing. I have no problem with that and the only people who do are Christians and others who find it scary and evil. There's a possibility that I'm wrong and that he actually is in BMSS, but I'm reasonably confident that he wouldn't have had the time for it. Probably someone on the NWN forums got carried away, and everyone accepted it as fact.
He'd have to be absolutely prolific in order to fit BMSS in on top of all that, and I can't imagine he's able to do music full-time.Īltogether, while the two bands really are similar, I think it's way more likely that the connection between Tarot and BMSS is nothing more than internet rumors. I could see it if BMSS was a potato black metal project, but writing and recording trad with good riffs and production must take a substantial amount of effort. Heavy Chains was also releasing a bunch of stuff at the same time.
As far as I'm aware, every year that a BMSS release came out, there was also a release from The Wizar'd, Tarot, Dracula, Torpedo, or multiple of those bands. Black Magick SS was formed around the time that Will was working on stuff with The Wizar'd, and were releasing albums while he was on tour with Tarot. Second, the timeline doesn't quite match up. First, as I said before, it seems really weird for Will Fried to be in a band that's basically the same as the band he's already in, especially when he's in like five other bands and runs a decently prominent trad record label. There are other things we can look at, though. Of course, it's no stronger support than the way people were speculating that they were related, but it seems difficult to get any concrete information beyond that. I've encountered one or two people on Reddit who claim to know both bands, and said that they were completely separate. As far as I remember, there was never really any evidence that they were by the same person except for them both being from Tasmania and playing nearly the same style of music.
